ASICs Resistance

ASICs resistance algorithms are used to mine cryptocurrencies specifically, because they pose engineering difficulties to anyone who wants to build an ASICs for mining that cryptocurrency. Memory Hard Algorithms, for example, are considered more difficult to build ASICs for because they favour computing that requires a lot of RAM. The latency of the DRAM is a bottleneck for processing, which limits the advantage that someone can gain with specially designed hardware. Memory hardness isn’t the only approach to ASICs resistance. Lyra2rev2 is an adaptive hybrid chained algorithm that gradually increases the memory requirement over time.
